Mud and art on Hampstead Heath

Our intrepid ramblers outside Kenwood House

On Sunday 25th February some of us enjoyed an agreeable wander on Hampstead Heath, organised by Pri Kali. We met at the Magdala pub for a livener and from there trekked to Kenwood House, where we took in the lush art collection (yes, that really is a Rembrandt self-portrait), and thence to the Holly Bush pub for a late lunch, from which we emerged around 6pm. Despite the forecasts, it did not rain on us, though the earlier rains had left Somme-like areas of mud, which our eccentric route seemed unable to avoid. Apologies to those who were not appropriately shod—I hope your footwear is ultimately salvageable. As usual, we made an impact on the locals and the staff at the pub, so it was a worthwhile diplomatic excursion. I think we can all congratulate ourselves on a job well done.

Our route from the pub to Kenwood House was probably not the most direct. This photo is just before we strayed from the path and waded through a mud-lagoon
