Member Luca Jellinek will deliver Part II of his talk entitled Newness In Form And Spirit: A Field Guide to Architectural Modernisms. “Can we speak of a single strand of ‘Modernism’ in the history of architecture or is there a great variety?” he asks. “We will examine the similarities and differences of various schools of architecture that thought themselves ‘modern’.” Part I dealt with the proto-modern movements from the late 19th century, so I imagine Part II will address the full-on, eyeball-searing true Modernism of the 20th century.
