The Chap Grand Flaneur Walk

  • The statue of Beau Brummell Jermyn Street London, England United Kingdom (map)

The Chap magazine’s third annual saunter, celebrating the lost art of flâneurie—ambling through the city with no particular destination or purpose in mind, simply to observe human life and be observed in turn. While there isn’t a structure as such, there are, erm, episodes, in that the mob tends to lurch from one watering hole to another (assuming they’ll have us, which they won’t always). Last year there was a final destination, a reception at the Camden Watch Company’s HQ; this year there wasn’t even that, though the latest news is that there will now be a gathering at Vout-O-Reenees at the end, whenever that may be. The event kicks off at the statue of Beau Brummell on Jermyn Street. Feel free to join and/or leave the group at any point (if you can find them).
