The Candlelight Club’s Christmas Party

  • A secret location London, England United Kingdom (map)

Admission: £30 in advance
Dress: 1920s elegance

The Candlelight Club is an award-winning clandestine pop-up 1920s speakeasy, in a secret London venue lit by candles. Each event offers live period jazz bands, cabaret and vintage vinylism for your dancing pleasure, and everyone dresses the part.

Like a lot of folk in the 1920s, we're not about to let Prohibition spoil Christmas! So we'll be celebrating the season of goodwill by candlelight at a secret tinsel-toned party in a south London ballroom where the jingling of sleigh bells will mingle with the clinking of cocktail glasses, where for one night the cop and the gangster will lay down their Tommy guns and share a toast.

Hosting will be Santa's little helper, Champagne Charlie, introducing magical burlesque from Vicky Butterfly. To get your feet moving on the dance floor, we’ll have live jazz music from Duncan Hemstock and his All-Stars. When the band aren’t playing our DJs the Bee’s Knees will be spinning festive vintage platters.

Elsewhere tarot reader Lucius will be on hand to glimpse into your future, Michelle Krausz will be running her vintage jewellery shop, and on Saturday sketch artist Svetlana Lierre will be poised to capture you in all your finery. On Friday we will also have a complimentary dance class from the NSC's own Russell and Sara, teaching the rudiments of the Charleston.

Our party runs across two separate nights, Friday and Saturday, and our venue will be a ballroom in south London. You can come just for drinks and dancing but you can also reserve a table with Champagne, or book the three-course dinner. There’s even an inclusive-drinks option. Ticket-holders receive an email two days before revealing the secret location (which is close to a tube station). So pull on your flapper dress and get ready to Charleston…

Looking for a Christmas office party theme? Why not bring your group along to the Friday night bash?

"The closest you'll find to an authentic Jazz Age experience in central London. Its unique ambience, fuelled by hundreds of candles, is truly a scene to behold." —Time Out
